GSM

Definition

Grams per square metre — the universal measurement of fabric weight in textile manufacturing. GSM ranges from 120 for lightweight summer jerseys to 500+ for heavy outerwear fleece. At White Cotton, we specify GSM for every fabric roll we receive and test incoming shipments to verify suppliers meet tolerance (typically +/- 5%). GSM is the single most important number when specifying fabric for a tech pack.
