Stitch Count

Definition

The total number of stitches in an embroidered design — the primary factor determining embroidery pricing and production time. A small chest logo might be 5,000-8,000 stitches; a full back design can exceed 50,000. Higher stitch counts mean longer run times per unit and more thread consumption. Stitch count is determined during digitising and can be optimised by simplifying design details or using applique for large fill areas.
