Twill

Definition

A weave pattern characterised by diagonal parallel ribs, created by passing the weft thread over one or more warp threads then under two or more. Twill weaves (including denim, gabardine, and chino cloth) are more durable than plain weaves of the same weight because the longer yarn floats distribute stress more evenly. Cotton twill at 200-300 gsm is the standard for chinos, workwear, and structured jackets.
